Although the lyrics are very FEMINIST and shouldn't appeal to me because I'm male..they really get to me, turning my feelings on and upside down because I was in a relationship with a girl for many years who is literally the B I T C H in every one of Halestorm's songs.
If someone wants to know what she was like I just tell them to listen to all of Halstorm and it will be as if they had met in person!!!
It was a very abusive relationship that destroyed me through psychological agression but I'm almost back to the confident, optimist, fun person I was.
I suspect that the lyrics are intentionally gloating this behaviour but nonetheless I must admit it helped me so I have to say:
THANKS HALESTORM FOR OPENING MY EYES TO WHAT WAS REALLY WRONG IN MY LIFE!!!!!
The first time I ever heard of Halestorm...22 Jul 2010 on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon!!!!! Which is wierd to me because I usually change the channel when the musical guest is announced...don't get me wrong I love music but that wasn't the reason I'd watch Jimmy's show...(this is going to sound cheesy but it's true) but for some very strange reason I pressed the wrong button and instead of changing the channel I hit the volume, got angry like "throw the remote to the wall" then suddenly was overwhelmed by the intro to "Familiar Taste Of Poison" and went into an emotional tsunami that hipnotized me into watching the whole performance. When it was over I was like phisically frozen but in an emotional turmoil. I was perplexed by how it described what I was going through and I immediately felt the need to listen again. I still went through a moment of doubt like " I must be over reacting" until I reminded myself that what I heard wasn't playback/lip sync...it was live and sounded so amazing!!! Enjoying a live performance was against what was normal to me, I avoid concerts because the music sounds horrible, the singer's out of tune and inaudible, except for a handful of artists that now include Halestorm!! And here I am a fan of Quality Rock!!
