Hi, everyone. For those who don't know me, I'm the guy who runs Storm the Airwaves. This past Friday, Halestorm invited me to their studio in Los Angeles to listen to a few previously-unheard tracks from the new album, and they gave their blessing for me to share some information with the world, so here it is!
They've recorded a total of seventeen songs, though right now their label only wants eleven on the final product -- Lzzy told them the band doesn't think that's enough. Which means that right now, the exact number of tracks is still up in the air, but should be at least eleven. Since the first album inluded eleven tracks on the physical CD, but featured three digital-only exclusives, bringing the total to fourteen, a similar approach may end up being taken here.
Other details -- specifically the album's title and release date -- are still being decided; there's a chance a single will be released as soon as November, but it's a slim one. The album itself definitely won't be out until sometime in early 2012; they're still shooting for the first quarter of the year, but at this point, nothing's certain.
While recording has pretty much wrapped up, the songs are still being mixed. Of the three I heard, one hadn't seen any mixing at all, and the other two were mixed but not finalized -- the band wanted to take the keyboard levels down here, swap out a guitar solo there. Based on a conversation between Lzzy and Joe, it sounded like at least two other songs may be a hundred percent ready or close to it, but everyone was pretty tight-lipped on the specifics; a lot of "you know, the thing we discussed earlier" kind of talk going on because I was there.
The songs I heard:
- Love Bites (So Do I)
- Freak Like Me
- Daughters of Darkness
I've got more info, but it's too much to go into here, so check out my article at this link:
Folks, this album is going to be PHENOMENAL.
