Just wanted to let everyone know that Halestrom was the last opening band to play with Ronnie James Dio.

If the band is reading this, I wonder how this makes you feel and did you happen to meet Ronnie James Dio.  Any thoughts on that??

Its awesome how lzzy drinks a glass of wine while singing familar taste of poison and dedicates the song To Dio. Great performance. And her whole speech before she sings the song is really moving.

I was there. Lzzy was really excited to be opening for Dio and she wore a Dio t-shirt. She came out and told the audience that they were thrilled to be opening for such legendary rockers. They played for maybe 40 minutes. It was a pretty small place. Heaven and Hell rocked, of course. And much less louder than the Merriweather Pavilion show the week before where Tony was insanely loud. I saw no indication that Ronnie was having physical problems but he was extremely thin. Couldn't have weighed more than 115 lbs. Tony was in pain. At both shows he massaged his playing hand between songs and winced. (He has lost cartilege in his hand and the bone-on-bone was causing him pain. He received treatments in the Fall to try and resolve that issue.) Ronnie received a bouquet of flowers after the show and he told the audience that he and the guys were going to take some time off.

For over 30 years, the words and music of Ronnie James Dio served as a positive cognitive and spiritual influence in my life. As a teen, his words encouraged me to develop insight and sparked my interest in philosophy, history and all the humanities.

They played at house of blues in atlantic city on 8/29/2009, opening for Heaven and Hell. This was Ronnie James Dio's last public performance.
