Parts 1 to 3 below describe the Vancouver leg of the tour from a grateful fans standpoint.

Anybody reading this should make damn sure to see Halestorm on this European tour – if you don’t, you will always regret it.

Part 3 – What’s next?

The Uproar festival tour is now over.

I could not be more proud of your performance in Vancouver if you were family – goodness only knows how wonderful it must be for your parents watching their progeny on stage.

I have been playing the album, bits of the video we took and the stuff from YouTube to anyone and everyone coming over for beer or munchies, including my kids school friends.

As posted earlier on your website, and as stated when we met, I cannot help but compare you to Def Leppard when they started out in the UK – I seem to remember they did OK for themselves :o)

You are doing what you can – touring like animals, using your drive, energy and determination to expose yourselves to the largest number of people you can, in the most efficient and effective ways. Well-designed website, videos on YouTube, live gigs, appearances on radio and TV – you know how good you are, and you only have to make yourselves heard. Even having the 2 ladies walking round the audience with “flashing lights” on their trays full of CD’s was genius – it gave plenty of people who wanted to buy the CD as a result of your performance ample opportunity to pick up a copy.

You are wonderful people, so young, so full of energy, enthusiasm and talent. Don’t ever lose that, “don’t let the bastards grind you down”, and never EVER lose faith in yourselves or your abilities. I am old enough to be able to look back over many MANY years of experience as a rock fan and concert-goer that as a band, you truly are “1 in a million”.

Nobody is doing it better, and you deserve to be HUGE. My heartfelt best wishes for the “Taste Of Chaos” tour you started yesterday – say hi to Birmingham for me!

“Thin Lzzy” – the boys (and girl) are back in town.

Part 2 – The gig in Vancouver

Truth be told, although we had done lots of research before the gig, with the possible exception of Disturbed, we didn’t really care for any of the other bands on the bill.

Our opinion was reinforced as things progressed. Too much swearing & volume (I’m not over-sensitive - I’m a Motorhead fan!) by some bands resulted in large numbers of the audience temporarily exiting the venue to get away from the noise.

Not the case with Halestorm.

Despite being one of the hardest touring bands in the world (THE hardest touring band?), there were still many (especially in a mixed audience perhaps coming for their own “favourite band”), who had not heard of our guys and gal.

However - from the moment Lzzy’s voice cut through the dark, I saw an audience in shock. That’s why they open the gig the way they do – talent speaks for itself – period!

Some of the best moments were looking round at seasoned rock fans whose jaws LITERALLY dropped when Lzzy opened her mouth - the sheer POWER of her voice cancelling out any stereotyped preconceptions in the blink of an eye.

One of the guys beside me, clocking in at over 6 foot and probably over 300lb, let his beer slip through his fingers – he lost about 1/5 of the glass before gaining his composure and exclaiming “Jesus!” That is the effect true talent can have on people.

Having been fortunate enough to have already seen and heard how awesome a band Halestorm are, both on record AND live (via this site and YouTube), I was now watching that realisation wash over an audience wide-eyed in amazement. Damn did it feel good – like I was in on a well-kept secret that was only now being exposed to the masses. I was smiling from ear-to-ear.

The playing, the setlist, the drum “solo” (wow that that drum “solo”!), the audience interaction – everything, in an all-too-brief 30-minute set – was absolute perfection.

And I videoed the whole thing – what a wonderful memory!

Part 1 – The tour / Vancouver “meet n’ greet”

First of all, congratulations on the completion of the UPROAR tour. It’s wonderful to hear you enjoyed it as much as I know your fans did.

Our little part of this was at the Vancouver show on Sun 26th Sept 2010. My Wife and 12-year-old Daughter eventually decided against going because of the long day, but my 9-year-old Son and I were SO not going to miss your first time in Vancouver. Having seen the photo’s and video we took they REALLY regret not going – we (in contrast) are SO glad we did make it :o)

We arrived about 45 minutes before the scheduled signing session, and had to walk round and round the auditorium, asking at least 6 different security guards (all of whom tried to help, but were clueless), trying to find where the “meet and greet” was. We persisted, and found the correct area with only 15 minutes to spare.

There, in a makeshift section of the Pacific Coliseum, next to the food & beverage stands, was the brightest hope for rock to arrive on the scene in the last few years.

Lzzy and Josh with shorter hair - Josh’s was NOT purple :o) - Arejay oozing pure “rock n’ roll”, and Joe looking more confident than ever.

Meeting you was a joy, you were so polite and friendly. Even though I was embarrassed when my camera batteries died (my apologies once more) you were all kind enough to pose again for 2 photo’s once technical difficulties were overcome.

We got a personalised, signed poster each, and my Son was more than a little overwhelmed shaking hands with the first rock stars he had ever met face-to-face. My kids had been to a number of gigs before (Scorpions, Maiden, Nightwish, Maiden again), but this was extra special.

Thank you.

My apologies to the webmaster for the posts that follow being so long and drawn out. I tried to condense what I wanted to say but failed miserably.
