A Letter to Dio

Dear Mr Ronnie James Dio,

I had just come off stage playing an Iowa Radio Fesival, when I got the news. My heart goes out to your family, and those closest to you.

We are all so saddened that Metal and Rock n Roll lost your triumphant, unearthly voice.

I wish that I could have shared the stage with you one more time, though I am extremely honered to be the last band to perform with you in Atlantic City, NJ on August 29 2009. I wanted to tell you that you have been such a huge influence. Since I was little, my family and I have lived in your records and videos. Getting the chance to meet you, and share the stage, was a dream come true. I was impressed not only by your voice, stamina, and enchantment on a crowd of Jersey Bikers and rowdy metalheads, but by how nice of a person you are. I don't think Ive ever met a more genuine, humble man in all my life. You made me feel like I've known you all my life. Ronnie, not only have you introduced me to the metal scene, and inspired me musically... But you have inspired me as a person. I hope that the young fans that I meet will get an equally satifying experience by meeting me, as I had when I met you. I know god was probably sayin' "why should the devil have all the good music", and so recruted you to teach the angels how to rock! Love you Dio, Rest In Peace.

Lzzy, What an awesome letter! Dio has been and will continue to be an influence on many. I am happy that you got to share the stage and meet Dio. Having met you briefly myself, I think you share the same qualities you compliment R.J. Dio with. I missed your show in the fall in Santa Rosa CA. but had the opportunity to meet you when one of your crew became ill (I was the RN in the ER from Phili). I already knew of your band and music but also got to see what a sweet, humble woman you are. You can inspire both young and old by staying human while blessing us with your music!
I have already checked my schedule and I am off in September for the uproar tour! I love seeing Disturbed live and was excited to see you were in the line-up!!! I look forward to seeing you, thank you for your music!

Wow... Your post is the first exposure I've had to this shocking news and I'm not really sure how to react to finding out about the passing of one of the Gods of Rock in this way... I was a huge fan of Dio, and I must say that despite feeling the pain of watching another member of a great era slipping away into the shadows, I am deeply impressed by this letter.
Since I first heard your single played over the radio last fall my interest was sparked (which doesn't happen often with modern bands), and after seeing you the other week at the Brat Stop I knew you guys would be a band to follow because I was absolutely blown away by the performance- there have been few bands I've seen from my generation that can both rock out and entertain the crowd like you guys do! But, putting aside all aspects of stage presence and music, what I now value most is the character of this band.
In every thing I have read and every interview I've watched I never once heard or seen anything derogatory in terms of how Halestorm presents themselves. Not only are you professional, but you guys are true people, you care about us fans and furthermore you care about and respect your predecessors. I am sold. Lzzy, I trust that this letter you've written is also an extension of the general feelings of all the members alike. There is no way for me to express how great it is to know that not only is there a band today that is contributing to keeping the spirit of rock alive, but that they do it with the highest class there is!

    Fan for Life.

Lzzy, I first saw you at the House of Blues in boston, Then I met you all at the Paladium in Worcester Ma for the 1st time. I was the last person in line and in a wheelchair and all 4 of you took the time to come over to me to meet me sign some autographs for my friend and I and then spent a few minutes talking with us and didn't rush us. Being a fellow musician and in the local club trenches longer then any of you have been alive I can understand how tired you are after a show. Despite that fact to sit and watch how you genuinely care about your fans and make sure each and everyone of them feel like they weren't meet rock stars but making true friends. I liked Halestorm before I met you, now I will be a die hard fan for as long as you make music and having been a card caring member of the Kiss army since 1976 when I was 10 years old and still am, you have a fan for life. RJD would be proud to know you were his fan and friend and that he was an insperation to you. Rock on Halestorm and thank you for keeping it real and letting your fans know what true Gentelmen and a Lady of rock really are like... All My Love And Respect... David Crisci

Lzzy, if meeting you, Arejay and Joe at Lazerfest was anything like meeting Ronnie James Dio, then he truly was a wonderful person. You all carry his reputed generous and humble spirit with you. To me, I didn't feel like I met rock stars, I felt like I made new friends. All of you were gracious, kind, and a lot of fun. My 16 year old daughter was at Lazerfest just to see Halestorm and she was THRILLED to see the pics of Mom with Lzzy! I'm glad my daughter likes Halestorm. Rock music is sexy and Halestorm does it right. Lzzy, you are smokin' hot, sultry, and sexy in your performance, but you're never slutty or trashy. I don't worry what my kids will see on stage at a Halestorm show and I wish I could express to you how much I appreciate that. I look forward to you guys returning to the Des Moines area!
